About Bhairab Upazila: Bhairab Upazila (KISHOREGANJ district) with an area of 139.32 sq km. Bhairab (Town) stands on the bank of the Meghna. Bhairab thana was established in 1906 and was turned into an upazila in 1983. It consists of one municipality, seven union parishads, 32 mouzas and 84 village. Literacy rate among the people is 40.7%.
Total population 2,83,917. Among the population 51.2% male and 48.8% female; Muslim 95.18%, Hindu 4.71%, Christian .02%, Buddhist .01% and others .08%.
Bhairab municipality was established in 1958. It has an area of 15.31 sq km and it has 12 wards and 24 mahallas.

The upazila consists of one municipality, 9 wards, 7 union parishads, 46 mouzas and 131 villages. Average literacy 21.6%; male 26.9% and female 16%.
Population 1,33,327; male 50.61%, female 49.39%.
Kuliarchar (Town) consists of 9 wards and 37 mahallas. It has an area of 3.45 sq km and a population of 28027; male 50.65%, female 49.35%; density of population is 8124 per sq km. Literacy rate among the town people is 28.8%.
